Presidents in danger, dangerous Uncles, potentially dangerous dogs and much much more! Let’s see what new moves we got this week: June 26, 2015!

EscobarParadiseLost

What’s it about? In Colombia, a young surfer meets the woman of his dreams-and then he meets her uncle, Pablo Escobar.

My thoughts? Ehhh…..I’m not sure if I wanna watch another movie in which it’s a white guy getting in over his head while getting involved with a famous figure. (I.E. look at The Last King of Scotland.) Couldn’t this movie just been about Pablo Escobar? You have Benicio Del Toro for crying out loud! The movie looks ok, but I’m not really interested in seeing it.

ALittleChaos

What’s it about? Two talented landscape artist become romantically entangled while building a garden in King Louis XIV’s palace at versailles.

My thoughts? This marks Alan Rickman’s SECOND film as a director. His first movie was the 1997 movie,The Winter Guest, which got decent (if not great) reviews. So fair, I kinda like what I see in this movie. I like the humor, and the dialogue and the cast is great which includes the always awesome actor we call the Tooch! (AKA Stanley Tucci)

BatkidBegins

What’s it about? On one day, in one city, the world comes together to grant one 5 year old cancer patient’s wish. Batkid Begins looks at the ‘why’ of this flash phenomenon.

My thoughts? This story sweep the nation, and it’s easy to see why. Batman will always have a huge impact in the world, and part of me believes that the folks who wanted to be part of this wasn’t JUST to help this little boy live out his dream, but that they ALL have a fondness of Batman/superheroes and they wanted to live in the fantasy too. This movie’s goal seems to be that it just wants to be a nice look back on this event. I don’t expect it to be anything hard hitting…nor do I want it to be. This story was sweet and heartfelt, and that’s what the film should be too. And kudos to the the kid wanting to be Batman. Sure, he could have been Robin,  the comic nerd part of my brain thinks that would have made more sense….. but damn it, he wanted to be BATMAN! I feel ya dude. I feel ya.

TheLittleDeath

What’s it about? The secret lives of five suburban couples living in Sydney reveal both the fetishes and the repercussions that come with sharing them.

My thoughts? Honestly, looks pretty funny, and I’m enjoying the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy-style narration hook that I hope is in the movie. The sign language bit is kinda great.

Max

What’s it about? A dog that helped US Marines in Afghanistan returns to the U.S. And is adopted by his handler’s family after suffering a traumatic experience.

My thoughts? This trailer is really odd to me. It starts off as a  serious family/pet drama…and then the last 30 seconds it implies that the movie becomes a Goonies-ish action film? I’m not sure how I feel about that. That being said, I want this to be the start of a franchise. If Max is First Blood, then I want Max 2 to be a CRAZY violent action film. No holds barred. All out Rambo as a dog action. The next one could be call 2 the MAX! There Hollywood…I gave you a freebie. You’re welcome.

Ted2

What’s it about? Newlywed couples Ted and Tami-Lynn want to have a baby, but in order to qualify to be a parent, Ted will to prove he’s a person in a court of law.

My thoughts? I haven’t watched the first Ted yet. I have some interest in seeing it, but truthfully, Seth MacFarlane’s humor just doesn’t work on me any more. It’s interesting to note that MacFarlane’s film from last year, A Million Ways to Die in the West, was so poorly received it’s almost a good thing that he was getting ready for a Ted sequel. Maybe he can recover from last years mistake and hope that people will just forget about it…unless this one is terrible too.

BigGame

What’s it about? A young teenager camping in the woods helps rescue the President of the United States when Air Force One is shot down near his campsite.

My thoughts? I am honestly really excited for this one. It just looks like a well crafted blast of a film. The film has had a nice festival run and the reviews have been strong. The movies writer/director is Jalmari Helander and his last film, Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale, was pretty awesome. Helander has a great eye for big visuals and action, and this film seems to have plenty of both. Also, it’s got Sam Jackson as a bad ass President. This seems like the summer action film we used to get. A fun looking movie not based on ANYTHING, but a really cool hook and some excellent execution.

How about you guys? Ready for some more rude teddy bears in Ted 2? Sam Jackson teaming up with a little kid John McClane in Big Game? Let us know in the comments below.
